A MESSAGE FROM THE DESOTO ARTS COMMISSION CHAIR, James Adams
We are still working to Imagine DeSoto! Yes, even thru this crazy period of quarantine, we have been Zooming, workshopping, reading and imagining the ways to make the arts more a part of our city’s identity. Your neighbors are saying…
We need more spaces for artists to work…
Our children should be able to participate in arts classes…
The park in my neighborhood would be a great place for a work of art…
More outdoor concerts would be great…
This planning process is right on time...and so much more –
BUT – we haven’t heard from you. Take a few minutes and complete our survey. We want to include your comments and ideas as we continue to more forward.
WHAT'S HAPPENING NOW
WHAT IS A COMMUNITY CULTURAL PLAN?
DeSoto, Texas is a great place to live. The City has taken bold steps to develop a welcoming environment for business and commerce, which serves as a backdrop for the quality of life our residents have come to expect. From this perspective the Mayor, with oversight from the Arts Commission, has determined that DeSoto's city government is ready to expand its role in making arts and cultural resources more visible and accessible.
There are many types of cultural plans – some are regional in scope and look at broad, overarching issues; while others focus narrowly on single issues such as diversity or cultural tourism. The DeSoto Community Cultural Plan will focus on the local community and will include business leaders, artists and arts organizations, educational institutions and elected officials.
